Appearance:
Mrs. Lovett is an older woman of average height, standing at about five feet, seven inches tall. She has the typical appearance of a victorian-London woman, well endowed and slim. Her skin holds an odd glow and is very pallor in tone, assisted by the constant cloud of flour that seemed to cover every inch of her. Lovett is easily spotted in a crowd by her dusted red hair and soft grey eyes, which always appear to be calculating and critical of whatever she happens to be examining. In addition to this, her eyes appear sunken, as if she had endured much hardship in the past. Despite this, she always appeared to be wearing a motherly sort of smile or look of concern. To see her angry would be rare indeed, and if she was, it would be a look most unfitting to be worn by her.
Mrs. Lovett often found wearing ornate dresses, all victorian styled to fit her in a complimenting fashion, though she is occasionally seen wearing a dress that could be compared to a housewife’s, accompanied with an apron. She sometimes sports a victorian styled hat and laced gloves, all black.The dress she is seen in most has a rather ornate pattern on the front, decorated in dark purple beading on a black corset, deep ruby fabric making up the rest of it, including the shorter sleeves on her arms. All in all, she looks rather well off for a simple baker. |

Personality:
...driven, patient, passionate, sensitive, forgiving, amorous, obsessive, optimistic...
Lovett's personality is a complicated one, as she is known to change from sadistic and crude, to calm and collected, and even to depressed and pitiful in the blink of an eye. Her eyes hold most of her emotions and true intent, though she is a very good actor and knows how to hide them well. Most people see her kind and giving nature when she is bustling about tending to her pie making business, though due to the recent circumstances, she is seen often as reserved, somewhat short-tempered, and depressive. She tries to avoid contact with others nowadays, afraid of being hurt the same way Ben Barker hurt her in the past. While she is not quite off the deep end as Mr. Todd, it would be a very accurate statement to dub her as that of mad. Her madness is subtle and controllable, but it is obvious at times that she is teetering on the edge of her own sanity. Lovett, of course, will not admit that she needs help, or that any of her ideas, morals, or values are skewed. The sight of others happy with friends or family often sets off her depressive states, as such scenes remind her of little Toby and Ben. As of late, she seems to be a bit more practical and cheerful, if not a bit cynical in her own regard. Obviously, something's been going well for her...

Abilities/Strengths:
Lovett is very good with words, actions, and presenting herself. It is very hard to pull a wool over her eyes. Lovett can be very manipulative and knows how to twist wording to prevent giving the full truth to those she is speaking to. Mrs. Lovett is of quick wit and has keen observation skills, knowing when and where something can be found to benefit her or someone she's close to. She”s also a very good baker when given the right ingredients. One of her most endearing qualities is her motherly nature, which she tends to show to those significantly younger than herself.
Notable Possessions:
Mrs. Lovett carries a rolling pin, which she uses to help make her pies. However, she also knows how to crack people over the head with it when they upset her enough. In addition to this, she carries a rarely seen straight-razor, known to be an old heirloom of Benjamin Barker's. She only carries this for sentimental value, and it”s doubtful that she could ever kill with it unless pushed to do so. Lovett recently returned the razor to Sweeney because she felt she was wrong to hang onto it when they meant so much to him.
Weaknesses:
Lovett's weaknesses aren't fairly obvious, though one of the most obvious is her attachment to Benjamin Barker. Once widowed, she became very lonely, and usually the subject is very touchy with her. She is also an older woman, not the strongest in the world. Should she be confronted with brute strength, she could easily be over powered. She holds Sweeney Todd very close to her heart, and it's very likely that she would die for him if the circumstance came about.

History:
Lovett was an average woman living in London, not much of her history is known or well spread out before she met the infamous demon barber of Fleet Street known as Sweeney Todd (or Benjamin Barker to her). However, it is common knowledge that she was married to a man named Albert in some point of her life, before he died of dropsy and left her alone. Despite the engangement, her ring appears to be absent. She would often tell the tale that she had accidently baked it into a pie and, when she set it out to cool in order to get it out, her husband ate it. Needless to say, she never got her ring back.
She always held a little lust for Benjamin Barker (her neighbor, who operated a barber shop upstairs in her pie shop) before he was sent to jail on a false charge by a Judge who wanted his beautiful wife, Lucy Barker. After being raped by the Judge, Lucy was driven to insanity and tried to kill herself with arsenic. Lovett tried to talk her out of it, though Lucy went ahead anyway. She failed at the attempted suicide and wandered the streets of London as a beggar, Lovett being the only woman who knew of her actual identity. The few days that Lucy had remained normal, though broken, Lovett took the liberty of caring for baby Johanna (Ben and Lucy's child), because her mother was too far gone to have the willpower to care for her own daughter. When Lucy fled the home, Beadle Bamford (Judge Turpin's right hand man) appeared to take the girl and any valuable possessions of the Barker name. Lovett was unable to keep Johanna, but she was able to salvage Barker's straight razors, hiding them in a panel under the floor upstairs should the man ever return and want them back. After this, she would wait, her business slowly declining as meat became more expensive and the story of the Barkers got out. Everyone believed the upstairs shop (which used to be Barker's tonsorial parlor) to be haunted, and thus, would not come in for business.
Fifteen years later, Benjamin Barker returned to London as a new man, having broken out of prison. His insanity didn't seem to phase Lovett in the least, and she continued to lust after him. After all, with his wife seemingly dead, he was her's for the taking. In an attempt to win Ben's trust, Lovett presented the razors she had hid for him all those years in his absence. The razors did not win over his affection, and thus, she was left to her shop. She decided to make the best of what she had been handed, taking Ben out on strolls during the day, even to show him his "greatest competitor", a man by the name of Adolfo Pirelli, or as Lovett liked to call him, "that dreadful eye-talian". The street barber kept a boy, named Toby, to assist him with his doings. Needless to say, Lovett took a liking to the boy after seeing him abused by Pirelli. In order to jump-start Todd's business, Lovett and Todd called out the barber and claimed him to be a sham. In response to this, Pirelli and Barker had a contest to see who was the better barber, during which time, Pirelli noticed Barker's unmistakable razors. Despite Barker's alias (Sweeney Todd), he had been recognized. When Pirelli came by later to confront Todd, he was slain on the spot, which would begin a new era for both Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney Todd.
Customers in Lovett's shop were still very scarce, though Pirelli's death inspired a new idea. They had to get rid of the body somehow without being discovered. The original plan had been to take the body away and bury it, with risk of it being found. Instead, the woman decided to make an enterprise out of the little mishap. While Todd extracted his revenge on the people of London, she would dispose of the bodies by baking them into pies, feeding them to anyone who came into her shop for food. Toby joined the duo unbeknownst to their plan. She treated him much like the son she never had, going as far to love him as much as she loved Ben Barker.
The business continued this way for a long time, becoming very prosperous and leaving Lovett with practically a perfect life. Eventually, Barker got to his victim of the Judge, but not before killing the beggar woman who had come upstairs just before he got to the man he wanted his revenge on. He later discovered what he had done (in fact, killed his own wife) and turned on Lovett instead for not telling him the full truth. He threw her into her own baking oven, nearly killing her until the Consulo spared her and picked her out just before she burned. Now in Econtra, she appears very lost and depressed, even to the point that she jumps out of her skin when snuck up upon. She has returned to the same old lonely Lovett because of her loss of Toby and Ben.
